Check whether an X (Twitter) username is available. We validate the format first, then look up the @handle so you know if it is taken.

Check format and availability · 4 to 15 characters
X usernames are short unique @handles. Checking availability first helps you avoid an invalid handle or one that is already taken.
X requires at least 4 characters and allows up to 15. That is one of the shortest limits among major platforms.
Spaces, periods, hyphens, and emoji are not allowed. Usernames are not case-sensitive.
Short handles are easier to remember, mention, and brand. If your first choice is taken, try an underscore or a short modifier.
If a username looks available, claim it soon. Popular handles can be taken quickly, and some may still be reserved by X.
Type the handle without the @, then click Check availability. This tool validates X username rules and looks up whether a public profile already exists.
